Land life
We are very fortunate on Scoraig to live in a place where year after year we see a growing biodiversity.
Along with some old favourites ...

A female midge
Only the female midge bites.

We see a growing presence of dragonflies and bats. They eat midges. We have hedgehogs to help with the slugs. The cuckoo returns every spring from winter in Kenya, buzzards cruise over open land to keep the rabbits discreet, the treecreeper is in business these days and a fox is never far away. The bee population is growing. The absence of trees for miles inland of Scoraig has kept the red squirrel from joining us, as of 2009. It is in the small life, insects, fungus, wildflowers, we see most vividly the continual growth of variety in the life of this place.
