8 Lotts of Scoraig

This croft covers 4.2 hectares (over 9 acres) of land. It includes two beautiful wooden houses and a wooden cabin, all three with electricity, plus an old stone croft house awaiting renovation. The croft also has a share in the common grazing land, a share in the former common grazing land which was planted with trees around ten years ago, and a share in the common peat cuttings for heating fuel.

Electrical power is supplied by one wind generator and six photovoltaic solar panels. It is usually enough to run a chest freezer, vacuum cleaner, tv, computer, toaster, electric chainsaw etc. (not all at once). Household electrical supply is standard 240 volt AC. When incoming wind & sun power exceed household demand the excess energy is automatically directed to heat water in a domestic hot water tank in the blue house, which contains the croft's one and only bath. A Honda portable 1 kW petrol generator supplies power direct to the household circuits when the wind and the sun let us down.

Two satellite dishes receive broadband internet and Sky tv.

The croft has its own excellent water supply.

Other features include a two storey barn, a polytunnel, a small herd of five goats (optional) and about 3,000 young trees including over 50 hazel and over 20 walnut saplings. Last summer, the croft yielded its first hazelnut.

The croft provides raspberries (over 30 kg / year), plums, blackcurrants, various apples, rhubarb, strawberries, blackberries, abundant rowan berries and basically as many vegetables as you can cultivate.

We are currently asking for offers around £ 170,000 for the croft..

Below are some of the features described.
